Green Tourism
The eco cottage built with local stone, wood and insulating polystyrene blocks, turf roofed to help regulate the inside temperature of the cottage and super insulated with earthwool.

- Provide info for cycling, walking, surfing, encourage guests to use local facilities such as Aqualibrium, boat trips, cinema, bird observatory
- 10 sites of SSSI including Machrihanish Dunes all help to sustain rare species of birds and plants
- Provide bicycles and backpacks to encourage guests to explore ‘pollution free’
- Provide welcome hampers of local produce to encourage guests to do likewise during their stay, provide info on farmers markets and local suppliers
- Planted trees with plans to plant more to provide shelter for wildlife and help mitigate co2 emissions
- Use locally made organic candles
- Supply a diary for guests to record sightings of wildlife, birds, animals or plants and appearances in the night sky
- Log fires fuelled by locally cut wood and peat
- Power efficient electric clothes airer
- Trying to create as sustainable and low impact an environment as possible
- Join local beach clean efforts to have Machrihanish beach made up to a blue flag beach again
